Even before her controversial connection with her uncle Daemon, people have been speculating about a possible love affair between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her closest friend Alicent Hightower since the start of the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. And where there’s speculation, there’s fanfic, and there’s a lot from House of the Dragon on the popular AO3 website.
Three House of the Dragon “couples” are among the top 100 “ships” of AO3
When it comes to shipping two characters, fans are really creative. AO3 recently released a list of the top 100 such fanfic couples on their website, and three House of the Dragon ships managed to make it to the list. The ranking, as per the number of reads, includes Daemon Targaryen/Rhaenyra Targaryen at 17, Aemond “One-Eye” Targaryen/Lucerys Velaryon at 25, and Alicent Hightower/Rhaenyra Targaryen at 94.
