Natalie Dormer reveals the real reason of her departure from Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones had a really large pool of actors. So much so that even the most ardent of fans would struggle to name all of them. However, Natalie Dormer was somebody whom fans adored on the show. She played a grey character of Margaery Tyrell on the show and impressed everyone with her range of acting. However, like many other adored characters on the show, her character too came to an end and left the void on the show. Now we have come to know about the real reason for her departure from the show. Read on!
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Dormer spoke about her final fate on the show. When asked about the dreaded phone call from the makers, she replied:
“I preempted the phone call because in true Natalie Dormer-style I tried to fit a million projects into a single year. I requested [while making season 5 that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] release me from working on the show earlier than usual so I could do another project, and they ended up phoning me — and that was The Call.”
However, Dormer couldn’t actually go ahead with her plan. She said:
“But I got it six months ahead of normal. They were like, “We weren’t going to tell you this for a few more months, but we’re not going to release you now, so you can’t do that job you really want to do and we’re really sorry about that. But on the bright side, we are going to release you proper in the not-so-distant future.” It was good news, bad news — no you can’t do this, but don’t worry, you’re going to have lots more opportunities very soon.”
Well, let’s just say it was our pleasure to see her perform. Dormer has actually done quite well for herself since her departure from Thrones. She has opened a production house of her own called Dog Rose Productions and has some great work lined up. She will also be seen soon in her next assignment Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. It is going to premiere on 26th April 2020.
