New location in North Wales might be the setting for Rook’s Rest in House of the Dragon
Production is in underway on the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel, House of The Dragon. Like with its predecessor, fans have praised the fantasy epic’s characters, plotlines, locales, and other aspects that contribute to its high level of engagement. There will be more dragon battles in Season 2 than in Season 1, which is one area where House of the Dragon will surpass Game of Thrones.
Humongous sets under construction at Dinorwic quarry
It has been known for some time that the House of the Dragon crew is preparing to film in North Wales, and Dinorwic quarry is one of the locations. One of the locals with the Twitter account 11110110011 posted a few pictures from the filming locations. With the scale of production in mind, one can safely assume this might be a good location to portray Rook’s Rest.

Locals are annoyed with HBO’s attitude
According to the same source, the HBO crew’s attitude towards the locals has been less than satisfactory. They wrote: “As someone who regularly walks this route in Dinorwic quarry, I am disappointed at the total lack of respect shown to local residents by members of your production crew, some of whom think themselves above the law.”
Could you please ensure member's of your team familiarise themselves with local laws which gives them no powers to prevent such photography from public rights of way.

What is Rook’s Rest and why is it important?
Rook’s rest was the seat of House Staunton, an ally of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. When the Greens began exterminating the Black Lords from areas around King’s Landing, Rook’s Rest was the castle where Lord Staunton and Princess Rhaenys made their last stand. It would also go on to be the first major battle in the civil war that will include dragons fighting each other.
