The Last of Us rivals the viewership numbers of Game of Thrones
HBO’s The Last of Us has become a hit in a very short period of time. The show has been breaking records ever since the release of the first episode. But very recently, it has also been found out that the show has been rivalling the viewership of Game of Thrones which is a big thing considering the show premiered this year! Let’s take a detailed look at the report.
The Last of Us breaking records!
The Last of Us has done some big numbers for HBO Max in a very short time. Reports suggest that the show has become the second-largest release on the service since 2010. During recent financial results, it was discovered that the show has been seen by 30 million users on the service. If we go by the numbers, the only show to rival would be the last two seasons of Game of Thrones.
It’s also worth noting that the HBO Max service isn’t available in the UK, where the show is broadcast by Sky, so the overall numbers could very well be much larger. The numbers are pretty shocking since the show only started to premiere this year! This is probably the reason why HBO was quick enough to greenlit the second season of the show!
When is The Last of Us Season 2 coming out?
The Last of Us Season 2 has already been greenlit by the producers of the show. While we’re still not sure about the actual release date, Bella Ramsey who plays Ellie in the show gave some hints in an interview with VGC.
Upon being asked about the release date of the second season, she replied, “It will be a while,” Furthermore she added, “I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. And then it’s a long, it’s like a year filming, so it will be probably the end of 2024, early 2025.”
