Daemon begins to prepare for war

In 2016, when George R. R. Martin hinted at House of the Dragon which was then named Dance of the Dragons, fans knew then and there that it was going to be another majestic addition to the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. And fast forward to 2022, it was every bit as majestic as one thought it would be. Created by Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin, the series introduced us to one of the best casts in the history of TV shows.

With an already passionate fanbase and a strong storyline helmed by a powerful cast, House of the Dragon won all hearts with its release in 2022. But hearts were not the only thing that the Targaryen-centric series won, the HBO drama became one of the most nominated and award-winning shows of the year. Therefore it does not come as a shock that House of the Dragon is nominated in multiple categories for the 2023 Critics choice award.

House of the Dragon nominations at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards

Despite the unprecedented levels of popularity that the series managed to reach it wasn’t the most nominated series at the Critics Choice award. The hit HBO comedy series, Barry, starring Bill Hader managed to bag the same number of nominations as House of the Dragon.

Unsurprisingly the series is nominated for Best Drama Series. And the beautiful cinematography paired with the compelling storyline gives House of the Dragon an easy slide to victory. The show will have to beat Andor, Bad Sisters, Better Call Saul, Euphoria, The Crown, and The Good Fight in order to win the title.

The broadcasting network, HBO, has its hands dipped in gold with nine of its TV series’ being nominated for the best shows awards in their respective categories.

Milly Alcock and Matt Smith were nominated in the Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories. And while fans are ecstatic for the two of them the debate around actors like Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke is as hot as ever.

Do you think Emma D’ Arcy and Olivia Cooke were snubbed? Let us know in the comments below.
