Olivia Cooke watched Game of Thrones with her mother after she was cast in House of the Dragon
A Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon is waiting in the lobby for release. It’s about to hit the screens on 21st August 2022 on HBO Max. As it happens, many details regarding casting and behind-the-scenes have been spilled and flooding the internet space, leaving the netizens in awe. One such incident that has caught people’s attention is that of Olivia Cooke, who went on a Game of Throne binge-watch marathon after winning her part in House of the Dragon.
In an interview with W magazine, she recounted her audition journey saying she hadn’t watched Game of Thrones due to the length of the show.
She joked, “It’s a big commitment if I don’t get it, [the part]”. She further went on to admit that post-winning the part of Alicent, at a watch party, she streamed all the 73 episodes of the hit show along with her mother. But her mum was slightly ahead.
“She was like, ‘What episode are you on? I’m like, ‘Mum, do not tell me anything, because you’re ahead of me now.’” she recalled the moments.
The actor even went a step further and read George R. R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, the novel on which the show House of the Dragon is based. According to her, she created bullet-points from these materials to fully imbibe the character she was working on.
Cooke plays the character of Alicent Hightower. The character is a staunch rival to Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) who is yet another contender for the Iron Throne.
