House of The Dragon’s Paddy Considine turned down Game of Thrones role because it had dragons
Game of Thrones is one of the biggest shows of the 21st century, and even though the show’s ending didn’t please all its fans, the cast and the amazing cinematography stand tall as one of the best to have ever been on a TV show. There’s a reason why so many great actors wanted to be a part of the show, the list includes MCU’s Elizabeth Olsen, Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, and quite surprisingly, House of The Dragon’s Paddy Considine.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Considine revealed he was originally offered a role in Game of Thrones before he turned up for the prequel House of The Dragon, which he rejected without even reading the script. He recalled talking to his agent, “He said, ‘It’s about dragons. I went, ‘No thanks.’ I didn’t even read it.”
And that’s how Paddy Considine missed the opportunity to be in the biggest TV show of the century. So when he got a second chance to be in a TV show with “dragons“, he made sure to not miss it this time.
Considine is not the first actor to have turned down a Game of Thrones role. Succession star Brian Cox was earlier offered the role of King Robert Baratheon in the HBO epic, which he turned down due to financial issues. He surely regrets it now.
