Rose Leslie on how her marriage to Kit Harington inspired her character in The Time Traveller’s Wife

Rose Leslie and Kit Harington are one of the most adorable celebrity couples, having fallen in love back when they were filming for Game of Thrones together and were also an on-screen couple as Ygritte and Jon Snow. They have come a long way together since then, Leslie helping Kit with his alcohol addiction issues. As Kit was on his way to rehabilitation, the couple welcomed their first child, and it provided a boost to Harington’s mental health. Leslie recently talked about how Kit inspired her role in The Time Traveller’s Wife.
Leslie plays the role of Clare Abshire, and while talking to Extra, explained how her marriage to Kit inspired her character. She said, “I think being in a relationship and knowing that you have a supportive partner can only lend itself to feeling more secure in yourself, and therefore, hopefully, kind of growing together into two people who are more anchored.”
Rose also explained how character chemistry would have been different to that of the 2009 feature film of the same name, which starred Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, as it was produced episodically. She continued, “We have more time to kind of delve into the characters and who they are and the kind of intricacies that they then have with one another.”
