Matt Smith congratulates Ncuti Gatwa on becoming the new Doctor Who
Doctor Who remains one of the most iconic sci-fi shows of all time. The actor who plays the titular role gets his name inscribed in the fabric time. Recently, the famous series is going through a significant change. It involves the passing over of the torch to a new iteration of Doctor Who. After months of speculations, we finally know who will become the 14th Doctor Who, and the 11th Doctor Who, Matt Smith, is quite impressed with their casting.
Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa has been named the 14th avatar of Doctor Who. Matt Smith, who will soon be seen in the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon, had heaps of praises for the young actor. Speaking at Paris Fan Festival over the weekend, Smith said, “I think he’s going to be brilliant.”

He continued, “I think he’s going to be truly brilliant. I think it’s an inspired piece of casting, and along with Russell, who’s such a great leader of that show. I don’t know if you’ve seen him in Sex Education, there’s a warmth and wit and a real depth to his talent that I think… honestly, I think it’s an inspired bit of casting and I’m really, really excited for the show.”
It seems like Matt Smith himself is a big fan of Gatwa. What do you think of the new Doctor Who casting? Talk to us in the comments below!
