Game of Thrones star Conleth Hill now has a new favourite role, and it’s not Varys

Game of Thrones had some of the most amazing actors in its cast, and the casting was so on-point that many of the stars became synonymous with the characters they played on-screen. Conleth Hill was so fabulous in his role as Lord Varys, today we can’t even imagine anyone else playing the role of Master of Whispers so perfectly. Varys was a life-changing role for Hill, something that he often admits. However, it is not his most favourite one.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Hill revealed his new role in the ITV drama series Holding is the best part he has ever been offered. While he did nod to the fact that he will always be seen as Game of Thrones’ Varys, clearly he has a new favorite. He said:

“I’m used to Conleth Hill The Game of Thrones [star], it’s a double-barrel name or trebled barrel name. But that’s a small price to pay for being associated with something so brilliant…I’ll always be associated with it until they do a remake. And then it’ll be somebody else. And that’s the way it goes. But I’m grateful for all the work.”

“And I’m not gonna deny it or say, ‘Well, no, I’m onto something else now’. I’ll always be associated with it until they do a remake.”

Comparing his new role of Sergeant PJ Collins to Varys, he said it was different: “I just thought he was a really multifaceted character, but [with] none of the kind of cliches that you’d expect from a leading detective. So it was just a gift, and the best part I’ve ever been offered.”
