Sean Bean talks Ned Stark, discusses his choice for Iron Throne
Game of Thrones was a sweet show to begin with. Remember the good old days when Robert Baratheon ruled the kingdoms, and his loyal northerner Ned Stark held the North? It all went downhill from there. Season 1 had us all expecting Ned Stark on the Iron Throne, but he was beheaded, and that was it. In a recent interview, Sean Bean, who played the role of Ned Stark, talked about his character the death, and more. Read on!
Sean Bean recently sat down with Huffington Post, and the hit question was about Ned Stark’s final words. You might remember that Ned mutters something before getting executed, and fans have theorized over that for years, and now Bean says it was just a prayer:
“It appears that way, doesn’t it? I couldn’t be too specific, because I don’t know if religion [like that] was around in those days, whatever they were. I just thought, ‘What would you do if this were really gonna happen?’ You probably would pray. You probably would murmur some words and you’d keep it quiet. You’d keep it to yourself.
It’s quite subtle in that many people wouldn’t pick it up. It was an interesting thing to do for me at that point. There’s not much you can do really, you’ve got your head on a block. That’s about the only thing you can do is murmur.”
He also said that he doesn’t see himself making a comeback as Ned Stark, and that the character is better gone. In another interview he did with YouTube series BUILD, he talked about how he needs to catch up on Game of Thrones. Watch the video, below:

Speaking of having not watched Game of Thrones, he said:
“I got [my] head chopped off in the ninth episode, so I stopped watching it then. I catch up on it now and again, but I really should get the box set.”
When asked about his pick for the Iron Throne, Bean asked who’s still alive, and ultimately picked Jon Snow. Apparently he wasn’t told that Jon isn’t really Ned’s son, so he played Ned as if he were Jon’s father:
“They didn’t tell me, which is just as well, so I treated him like a son. But I don’t know, everybody keeps asking me!”
