Nikolaj Coster-Waldau jokes about Bronn rescuing Jaime from the river in Game Of Thrones season 7
Game of Thrones Season 7 certainly pushed the storylines of a lot of characters forward, and Jaime Lannister got his own hefty share, too! In the Season 7 episode, The Spoils of War, we saw Daenerys attack the Lannister forces. As Bronn shoots Drogon with Qyburn‘s weapon, and it lands with Daenerys, Jaime is seen trying to take a shot at Daenerys.
The episode ends with Drogon flaming up in the direction of a charging Jaime as Bronn jumps in, and we see Jaime sinking into the water. Now, the cliffhanger here was whether Jaime lived or died, and we had to wait till the next episode to find out. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister, recently gave a hilarious explanation for this cliffhanger. Read on!
He recently sat down with Huffington Post to discuss the scene, and how the puddle of water he fell into turned out to be a deep pool :
“I didn’t see that hole, but there was a hole … that could happen, I’ve been told. It’s very realistic.”
He went on to crack about Bronn being a champion swimmer :
“What you didn’t know, and I think Bronn should have [said], he was for years working on the beaches outside King’s Landing as a lifeguard. He was like an expert swimmer and he won the Westeros 1000 meter. So he’s pretty cool.”
Getting serious, he explained that filming himself sinking was quite scary for the actor :
“As you know, [Jaime] falls into the water and he sinks, and we shot for a whole day and it was 15 feet I had to float down. I’m going down and it’s all murky water, you can’t see anything, and in a situation like that you want to know, ‘Well, I can get out of this.’ But that day, I just couldn’t … it triggered all my claustrophobia.”
I was never in danger. it was just a mental thing.”
So yeah, Jaime and Nikolaj both almost sank that day! What do you think about this? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
