Liam Cunningham says leaving Game of Thrones is like coming off heroin
Game of Thrones is one of the best shows to have ever appeared on television, and a spectacle as grand as it is unlikely to be reproduced any time soon. Now, the Game of Thrones fandom has been dealing with the fact that after Season 7 is done, we have only one more season left to go. However, it is obvious that the fans aren’t the only people who will have to deal with the end of Game of Thrones, but the cast members will be the ones getting the rougher end of it. Actor Liam Cunningham, who plays the role of Ser Davos Seaworth on the show, recently talked about how the cast was handling the situation and said that it was like coming off heroin. Read on!
In a recent interview with Evening Standard, Liam Cunningham talked a bit about the end of the massive spectacle that Game of Thrones is, and how the cast of the show was dealing with it. He said it is much harder for the stars than it is for the fans:
“It’s very bizarre. The punters only need to find another thing to fall in love with, but we’re having our living taken away from us, so to speak. It’s a double bogey for us. There’s no one in this whole cast that I speak to who isn’t a fan. I think everybody involved realises this thing is special. We were already talking about the end when we were shooting this season — people are trying to decompress.”
He went on to explain how difficult it will be for the cast:
“Rather than looking at each other during the last scene and going, ‘What do we do now?’, we’re easing ourselves off the heroin that is Game Of Thrones! It’s going to be impossible to reproduce something on this scale. There will be beautiful and genius television again, but Game Of Thrones will be unrepeatable.”
We quite agree. Cunningham talked about a few other things, like his humanitarian visit to Uganda, so if you want to, you can check out the full interview, over here. Tell us how you feel about the end of Game of Thrones, in the comments, down below!
