Outlander's Sam Heughan tried out for several roles on Game of Thrones 7 times
Sam Heughan might be a familiar name to the fans of the popular show Outlander, but there’s another TV series he wished to be a part of. Not just him, quite a lot of famous actors tried to get a role on Game of Thrones, and sadly, they didn’t get the chance. Sam revealed how badly he wanted to be on HBO’s hugely successful epic.
Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, the Scottish hero of Starz’s Outlander, revealed he auditioned for various roles on Game of Thrones. In an interview with Vulture, he said, “I auditioned for Game of Thrones seven times! Loads of times. I auditioned for Renly, Loras, some of the members of the Night’s Watch. And I’d always get so close! I’d be like, “Guys, just give me a sword!” [Laughs.] Everyone was going in for those parts. But you know, it’s funny about those things.”
“You’re up for so many things, and coming from those auditions, and testing on other shows, I had more experience, more experience with the process. And maybe I was more confident. And I don’t know, something about this one just felt right. This part felt different. I knew this character. And felt a connection with him. I knew where he had come from.”

Jason Momoa’s movie the Aquaman was a huge success for the DCEU (DC Extended Universe). The movie made huge profits and was applauded by fans all over the world. Aquaman was earlier regarded as a lame, fish-talking hero with little to no use. The character was made fun of by many comic book fans across the world. However, with the introduction of Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa as the titular hero, everything changed. Aquaman is now one of the coolest heroes in the DC roster, thanks to Momoa.
Momoa has always been an ardent supporter of Zack Snyder and his vision for the DCEU. He talked to Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show about how happy he was when Snyder’s dream came to life. He said:
“I love Zack, and that’s kinda what I signed up for eight years ago, is to have his vision. The cool thing about that four-hour piece is that I didn’t reshoot anything. That was all there. It’s so interesting when people come up to me and they’re like ‘Oh, I really love this, and it’s so detailed, and it explains so much,’ and I’m like ‘Yeah, that’s what we went and shot, I didn’t have to redo anything.”
He continued, “So because of the tragedy, I’m happy we made one, but I’m really happy that we got to release his art, and a lot of fans are happy. The truth of it is I like the four hours, it’s just a four-part series. So I like the extended and spending time with the characters.”
Momoa also lost a friendly match of Water War against the host recently. What do you think of the Snyder Cut? Tell us in the comments below!
The TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is one of DC’s most highly anticipated projects. The Netflix series garnered quite some attention, as it includes an ensemble of highly talented casts, including Game of Thrones alums. Gwendoline Christie, who played Brienne of Tarth in the fantasy series, will play a gender-swapped version of Lucifer in the show. And she is highly excited about it.
In a behind-the-scenes video posted on YouTube, Christie described why she wanted the part so badly. She explained, “I read The Sandman graphic novels so I knew that I simply had to be involved in this project. Something truly unique was going to happen. The sets are vast, a great amount of detail and care has been put into how it’s being brought to life.”
Gaiman also spoke about the adaptation and marvelled at the extraordinary sets being built. He said, “Sandman is the story of the place that we go when we close our eyes at night and it’s called The Dream.”
“The dreaming is ruled by Morpheus. For 32 years, anybody who read The Sandman, who read the comics, that world is ending and here at Shepperton Studios, I’m getting to see what happens when you bring dreams to life,” he remarked.

Emilia Clarke is one of the most familiar faces from the vast cast of Game of Thrones. Though she is famous mostly for her role ‘Daenerys Targaryen’ on the show, she has played major characters in various projects over the past few years. Emilia portrayed Qi’ra in the Star Wars spinoff Solo: A Star Wars Story. Clarke has responded to the return of her Solo character to the Star Wars universe, admitting it “means so much”.
Taking place more than 10 years after the events of the 2018 movie, War of the Bounty Hunters #1 reveals that Qi’ra is still a pivotal player in the crime syndicate. After she abandoned Han to join them at the end of Solo.
Emilia told ComicBook.com, “It means the absolute world. I know her backstory. I know her history. Maybe the movie didn’t get to go there, but that was such an honour and a privilege to be part of that universe as an actor.”
“So then, to see the character actually be taken on to the origin of all of it – bringing it on home to the family in that way – cemented it in a way. I was not expecting to feel as moved as I was by that.”
Emilia also appeared to be highly excited about the Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon. She said, “It’s just inevitable. I wish you all the best, it’s gonna be whatever it will be, but of course they’re doing more. You can’t create something that big and not have people go, ‘And? What else? This is really good! Let’s do loads more!’”
