That Time When George Lucas Visited the set of Game of Thrones

Fantasy has always been everyone’s favourite mode of escape from problems of real life. Be it the vastness of space or the mystical land of dragons, they have kept fans hooked for decades. George Lucas, the man responsible for making Star Wars a household name, celebrated his 77th birthday on 14th this month. And he himself is a great fan of fantastical worlds, as evident from his great love for Game of Thrones. He once visited the set of the highly popular TV show during the filming of the 8th season.

He could have [made a cameo], with the beard!” joked Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth). “That’s not a bad idea. We should have stuck him in.” It was surely a fun experience, having this cinema icon on the set of a show that had become pretty iconic himself. Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman made sure to get a picture with George, and shared it on his birthday.

George Lucas has a history of showing up on various film and TV sets, whether they’re related to something he created or not. But one thing is for sure, the universe he created and his legacy will entertain the audience for generations to come.

The Star Wars creator deserves all our praise for the amazing world he has created. Send in your best wishes for George in the comments below!

Game of Thrones’ Digital Board Game Has A New DLC That Makes You Wanna Play As A Bolton

Game of Thrones’ Digital Board Game Has A New DLC That Makes You Wanna Play As A Bolton

A Game of Thrones: The Board Game has successfully incorporated the elements of the fantasy show into a video game. The game launched its mobile version recently. Last month, it released a new DLC that makes you want to play as a Bolton.

The DLC is called A Dance With Dragons, named after the fifth novel in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books. Just like in the books (and later seasons of the show) this new mode of play reflects a change of power in Westeros. Lannister players begin with control of King’s Landing, Baratheons are on the Wall and have Jon Snow on their team, and the Boltons control House Stark. The flow of gameplay itself is also dramatically changed, giving players only six rounds to conquer the most territories or lose the Game of Thrones.

You can still choose House Stark in the Dance With Dragons expansion, but their deck is now stacked with characters from House Bolton. Fans will remember that dark period when the Boltons took over Winterfell, where Ramsay Bolton tortured Sansa Stark and broke Theon until he turned into Reek. Ramsay and Reek feature as playable cards, and together they make a deadly combo.

Ramsey comes at a solid three power and can have four power if Reek is in your hand. Having Reek around also lets him kill three enemy units. That’s a brutal move that pretty much ensures you’ll rip a territory from enemy hands without fear of reprisal. Reek, who has zero attack, lets you return Ramsey from the discard to your hand. Furthermore, if you lose that battle (which you will because of zero power), you get to return Reek to your hand instead of discarding him. So if you play it well, you can keep cycling Ramsay and Reek for several rounds in a row.

So, watch out for this deadly combo! And tell us what you think about the game in the comments below!

'Fire Cannot Kill A Dragon' is now available in Paperback Edition

Game of Thrones was one of the biggest hits of the 21st century. The fantasy epic that went on for almost a decade still has a massive fan following. No wonder HBO has opted to expand the Game of Thrones universe with the help of prequel shows such as House of The Dragon. However, there were many behind-the-screen secrets from the show that still remain a mystery. Entertainment Weekly Editor James Hibberd attempted to bring them to public eyes with his book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon. The book is now available in the paperback edition.

'Fire Cannot Kill A Dragon' is now available in Paperback Edition

Last October, Dutton released Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series, an excellent tell-all book all about HBO’s landmark fantasy drama. The book is filled with hundreds of great interviews with cast and crew, studio executives and others associated with the show. A paperback version of the book went on sale Tuesday, June 8.

The book is a wonderful resource for any Game of Thrones fans. It traces the history of the show from the early days when creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss tried to sell HBO on a story that was supposed to be unfilmable. Through the initial stumbles of the original, unseen pilot episode. It provides many perspectives on the show’s biggest episode. And a look at the show’s divisive final season; and finally a preview of the TV shows to come.

Have you read the book? Tell us what you think about it in the comments below!

Maisie Williams says People who aren’t Feminists should be called Sexist

The showrunners of Game of Thrones used it as a platform to project atrocities against women that even occur to this day. Game of Thrones showcased some of the most powerful and strong female characters on-screen. From Daenerys, Cersei to Arya and Sansa, they are an inspiration to feminists all around the world. However, there’s not a single notion of feminism, for different people it means different things. Recently, The Female Lead, a feminist front, released a quote from Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams. And it has caused quite a stir on the internet.

The statement reads as follows: “I feel like we should stop calling feminists ‘feminists’ and just start calling people who aren’t feminist ‘sexist’. You’re either a normal person or a sexist.”

Her Game of Thrones co-star Carice van Houten posted the quote on her Facebook story in support of her. Carice played Melisandre on Game of Thrones. However, the reactions generated on the internet were quite dissimilar.

Maisie Williams says People who aren’t Feminists should be called Sexist

One follower on Twitter wrote, “No. This assumes that all liberties sought by feminist efforts are now achieved & are “common sense” This assumes that feminist & sexist are understood terms. It assumes the conversation about societal morality is over EVERYwhere, cos it’s been won SOMEwhere. The work is not done.”

Another said, “Yes!!!! I’ve been saying this! We shouldn’t need to identify as being a feminist. By doing so we are simply saying “I’m not a dick by the way.”

What do you think of Maisie Williams’ statement? Do you agree with her? What are your ideas about Feminism? Talk to us in the comments below!
