Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey cast for The Last of Us TV adaptation
Video Games have always been an easy escape from reality for their players. They open the door to a fantastical world that immerses the audience in their graphic beauty and story. Some of the video games have become important pop culture icons all over the world. Some are as popular as famous TV shows, such as Game of Thrones. The two modes are now coming together, as hardcore gaming fans rejoice at a live adaptation of The Last of Us. Even better, two famous Game of Thrones alums will be playing important roles on the TV show.
HBO’s high profile game adaptation has cast Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey for the series. It will be based on the critically acclaimed video game The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation platforms.
The story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
HBO is gearing up for 2021-22 with a slew of amazing shows in their programming line-up. Clearly, their aim is to win back their audience they lost in the post Game of Thrones era.

In the world of movies, action movies are one of a kind, having a separate fan base all over the world. What makes these movies so special is the amazing action scenes involving our favourite heroes. Action movies have come a long way since the first action movie ‘The Great Train Robbery’ in 1903. These films are a spicy mix of drama, comedy, thrill and of course, a lot of action. Fantastical show Game of Thrones had some of the most spine-chilling action scenes. Martin Owens’ latest movie Twist is a modern, action-filled take on the classic tale of Oliver Twist, featuring Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey.
Besides the remarkable acting by Dominic Di Tommaso, the best thing that this movie offers is the action scenes played by Lena Headey. Lena Headey is famous for her character Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones, though she did not have any action scenes on the show. Fans of the acclaimed TV series can now see Headey in mind-blowing action sequences in Twist.
Far from the classic Charles Dickens tale we’ve seen and read countless times before, Twist has been adapted into a heist movie instead. Martin Owen is at the helm of the Sky Originals project. Rather than an orphaned boy begging for another bowl of gruel, Rafferty’s Oliver is a streetwise artist whose encounter with Dodge (Rita Ora) sees him get involved in an underground world of crime.
Lena will also be starring in an indie drama Gigi Gaston’s Gypsy Moon. Do watch the movie Twist and tell us how you feel about it in the comments below!
Game of Thrones was a huge show. It comprised many characters and each of those characters had a significance of their own. Even the actors that were part of the show belonged to different diversity and were proud to represent their origin. Nathalie Emmanuel who played the character of Missandei too felt that she was part of a change and was thankful for the show.
As per The Sun, Emmanuel in her recent interview felt grateful towards the show for pulling her out of the slump.
She said:
“That job changed my life. I really am grateful for that time, because it pulled me out of a slump. Suddenly, I was being thrown onto these big stages and I had to woman up to it.”
She felt proud to represent a character that had undergone so much in her life. She said:
“I had the opportunity to shape a person who had been through unimaginable things and really tell her story.”
She also felt that a strong reaction from all quarters towards her death was an important change.
“It sparked such necessary conversation around diversity and inclusion. I’m used to there being only one role for the ‘brown person’, but when you’ve got a show that has so many eyes on it, you realize she represented so many people. When you kill the only woman of color, there’s going to be a huge reaction.”
She said she was hopeful that shows and movies become more representative of the real-life world.
“Hopefully there can be a discussion about representation. And, when shows of that scale are made again, that the cast looks like the world we live in.”
Emmanuel had spoken about the lack of diversity in Thrones earlier as well. She has continued that discussion and its refreshing to see an actor trying to bring about the change in the world in her own way.
