Nikolaj Coster-Waldau almost donated to petition to remake Game of Thrones Finale
It has been a year since the final episode of Game of Thrones premiered. It was a matter of shock and awe for fans worldwide. The show was a fan favourite for many years, building up a fan community over time. The Season 8 Finale was bound to receive mixed reviews. Some, like actor Pilou Asbaek (Euron Greyjoy) found it perfect, others wished for a different one. One of these petitions really amused actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Having played the Kingslayer Jaime Lannister for 8 seasons, Coster-Waldau says he is just happy that it ended. When asked about the petition in an interview with Variety, he said he was aware of it.
He said, “I was aware of the petition for a new ending, which I thought was hilarious. I almost wanted to donate to that petition. HBO saying, “You’re right, so many people want it, we’re going to do it.”
“I think everyone had their own opinion.” He continued,” I find the world of fandom really interesting. Everyone wanted something specific and different from what they got. It’s a combination of — you imagine an ending; but also, I think if you’re a hardcore fan, it was really upsetting that it ended. You lived with this for eight seasons. There is still a massive community dedicated to “Game of Thrones.” I think there was a real fear that was going to go away. It had to end.”
He further added he wouldn’t want the series to end any other way, and it was too soon to talk about it. The experience he gained from the sets of Game of Thrones also helped him with the camera for his new company Ill Kippers Productions.
