[SPOILERS] New 'Game of Throne' fan theory goes viral
By Rahul Jadhav
With the final season of the show soon approaching this April 14th, fans are seemingly completely unable to hold in their excitement and a few of them are practically dying to know what happens at the end of the show. They show no intentions of stopping and while most of them are asking the cast about what goes down in the final season, there are those who are busy connecting the dots and figuring out all possible contingencies and reaching a more plausible conclusion about the very end of the show. And as such, there has been one three-page long Reddit post which elaborately explains how the show might reach a conclusion.
The funny part about this certain fan theory is that not only does it sound incredibly plausible but it went completely viral over the internet soon after it was written down by Redditor MrSilence. It involves the white walkers and the pregnant Cersei Lannister. Most fans who are attentive enough would already know about where this theory is going just by the reference of those two characters. In short, the White Walkers are known to accept human babies as sacrifices.
Cersei Lannister, the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms is known to be pregnant and has already hinted that her brother Jaime is the father of the child. According to the theory, knowing that the White Walkers accept children as sacrifices, Cersei could sacrifice her child to the Night King who has now breached the Wall and is set to attack Westeros. This would not be the first time a character has sacrificed his children to the White Walkers as it has already been done before in Season 2 when Wildling Craster sacrificed his two sons to the White Walkers.
If Cersei would sacrifice her child in a noble act to save the Seven Kingdom, the Night King could head back to the frozen North and leave the South alone. However, knowing the evil that lies in the heart of Cersei, the child would probably be merely a tool for her to secure the ultimate power for herself. After all, she still is a player in the dangerous and lucrative Game of Thrones.
Stretching this fan theory even further, Lena Headey, the actress behind the character of Cersei Lannister did mention how much she admires the latter for her bravery and her tenacity to keep holding on and never give up.
“We’ve seen [these characters] over such a long period of time, and with the subtleties of men’s weaknesses being exposed throughout, these women have risen over the course of this series,” she said. “But you just have to admire a survivor like that. She absolutely refuses to let go.”
Perhaps MrSilence might have finally broken the mystery surrounding the dramatic ending of Game of Thrones season 8. Or perhaps it is simply yet another fan theory which would bear no resemblance to what actually happens in the show, much like how Game of Thrones doesn’t bear much resemblance to A Song of Ice and Fire. However, while this one theory may seem very plausible and is extremely thought out and well connected, everyone will find out about the real ending of the show when it finally airs starting this April.
