Sophie Turner talks about dealing with eating disorder during Game of Thrones

In today’s fast pacing world, we rarely make time for our family, let alone save some time for ourselves. Humanity is slowly losing touch with its emotions. This often leads to mental illnesses of one form or another. Filming a show as big as Game of Thrones can be quite intense for its cast and crew. The show’s star Sophie Turner joined the cast at a very young age, and as she grew, so did some of her mental health problems.
Being in front of so many people for such a long time caused Sophie to doubt her own body image, and she resorted to eating disorder practices. In a recent interview with Elle, she recalled, “For a long time, I was quite sick with an eating disorder and I had a companion. I don’t know if you know what a companion is? It’s a live-in therapist, who would ensure I wasn’t doing anything unhealthy with my eating habits.”
She continued, “One night, I was playing over and over in my mind a comment I’d seen on Instagram. I was like, “I’m so fat, I’m so undesirable,” and spinning out. She said to me, “You know, no one actually cares. I know you think this, but nobody else is thinking it. You’re not that important.” This comment completely changed my outlook. That was the best thing anyone could have told me.”
