Sophie Turner: From day one I saw Sansa Stark as a strong and clever girl

Sansa Stark, the elder daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark was introduced to us on Game of Thrones as a shy and timid girl who dreamt of a luxurious life, but until season 6, faced enough torture and pain to last her a lifetime. Season 6 gave us a majorly developed character in Sansa, and she proved that she was done being a victim. Fans begun to appreciate the Stark lady more than ever after her strong willed self came into existence. It was an improvement after all that we’ve seen her go through in the past seasons, and most of us thought that this was a great transformation for Sansa on Game of Thrones.
However, Sophie Turner, the actress who plays Sansa Stark, says that she always knew how strong a person Sansa was right from the start. During one of the podcasts of The Hollywood Reporter,Turner spoke about how her character has evolved over the seasons, emphasising on the fact that she has known about Sansa’s powerful demeanor from the beginning. “From day one, I always saw her as a very strong, very clever girl,” she said. “Yes, she was kind of blinded by this fairytale of King’s Landing and the capital and being queen — and, I mean, what 13-year-old isn’t or wouldn’t be? I was always like, ‘Okay, and then there’s gonna be a point where she finally uses everything — all of that knowledge that she’s soaked up — and uses it to her advantage.’”
Turner also spoke about how she got the part of Sansa on Game of Thrones, and based on how well Sansa’s character has developed and evolved over the years, it is surely a testament to how good of an actor Sophie really is.
