It has been a long time since Season 6 of Game of Thrones ended, and Season 7 has been running on a delayed schedule, as compared to the usual one. We recently were subjected to the reveal of the premiere date of Season 7 recently.HBO revealed the premiere date to be July 16th, in a live video, on Facebook, where a block of ice struggled to, and melted to reveal the premiere date. We had previously talked about the hilarious reactions of the fans to the reveal. Now, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister on the show, has commented on what we all has been wondering about : the cast of Game of Thrones didn’t really like the melting block of ice, either.

Talking to The Daily Beast, about his latest film, Small Crimes, which premiered during the South by SouthWest Festival (SXSW), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talked about the live streaming event for announcing the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere date and his reactions were same as that of the fans. He also revealed that the showrunners were very embarrassed about the entire event.

“I spoke to Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] about that and they were like, “Oh god… That’s embarrassing.” Everyone was like, “What’s going to happen?” “What’s going to happen?!” “It’s melting!” “It crashed!” “Oh my god!” It’s like, just walk away… just walk away. It’s just a date!”

“You know, I was actually thinking, “Is there going to be a backlash and people will think, ‘Fuck you guys for that!’” but that’s really happened with every time the show kills off a major character: Never again! Fuck you! I’m never going to watch this show! and, you know, they keep coming back.”

Nikolaj also talked about the relationship between Jaime and Brienne of Tarth:

“It’s built out of contempt, which has turned into real respect, and love—not that they would ever use that word. I think they feel very strongly for each other. I have no idea if they would ever be able to act on it, and I don’t think they would. It’s all been about Cersei his whole life.”

Nikolaj spoke about more things Game of Thrones related, and not. Read the full interview, here.
