Game of Thrones does one thing very well : portray relationships. Right from siblings, to passionate lovers, to a mix of both, the show has done a brilliant job in showing us relationships between the characters. One of the fan favorite relationships was the one between Jon Snow and Ygritte. What’s even better is that the actors who play them, Kit Harington, and Rose Leslie, have been in a steady relationship off-screen since their on-screen romance began. The two recently got engaged, and are about to get married, but since then an even more intriguing piece of information has come forth : the two stars are actually distant relatives. Read on!
It turns out that Kit Harington and Rose Leslie actually have a common ancestor, and it’s not just a random guy, but Charles II of England! The fans seem to have dug up the details about the two, and their Wikipedia pages seem to mention that they have both descended from Charles II. Kit’s 8th great grandfather was Charles II, and Rose’s mother is a distant descendant of him, as well. Check it out :

Kit’s Wikipedia reads :
“Through his paternal grandmother, Lavender Cecilia Denny, Harington’s eighth-great-grandfather was Charles II of England.”
..and Rose’s says :
“Her mother is Candida Mary Sibyl “Candy” Leslie (née Weld) of Clan Fraser, maternal great-granddaughter of Simon Fraser, 13th Lord Lovat, and descendant of Charles II of England.”
The details also seem to have been confirmed by Ancestry.com.
Fans have been reacting to this in all kids of ways, with many making the same joke about how ‘at least she’s not his aunt’ :

So much for the incest. What do you think? The common ancestry seems to be too far away to make any difference or to be actually counted as incest, so we think the two are just fine. Scratch that, they’re more than just fine, they’re adorable. What do you think? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
