New rumours about The Winds of Winter surface the internet
Since the new book of A Song of Ice and Fire, The Winds of Winter, by George R.R Martin is far away from releasing any time soon, any news surrounding it manages to make book fans wonder what’s in store for us next. A new rumour about The Winds of Winter has now surfaced through Redditor Burnfyre, who reveals that a new ISBN number has been registered for the aforementioned book, and it appears to be that of Penguin Random House.
An ISBN number is the numeric marker assigned to each edition and variation on a book. The Redditor also said what the ISBN number is. “Another ISBN of The Winds of Winter has been registered with the ISBN office. I have no clue how long this has been.
This is the ISBN: 9780553801538
I believe it to be legit. According to the Global Register of Publishers of the International ISBN Agency, the prefix 978-0-553 is in fact associated with the Penguin Random House.”
The Redditor also says that Harper Collins, another leading publishing house has also registered a new ISBN for the book, i.e. 9780002247412.
However, another Redditor, BryndenBFish, sheds some more light on this theory:
- ISBNs are registered in blocks, like corporate IP addresses. so it’ll have just been publisher reshuffling their allocation, e.g. they might have wanted to keep a book series ISBN’s close together so reassigned TWOW to a different block to free up space
- ISBNs don’t change
- The old ISBN (9780002247412) is currently not assigned.
If this is the case, then it could mean that the publishers are simply reshuffling the numbers for a possible illustrated edition, but it does not particularly mean that the book release is near. And since Martin has previously claimed that he will announce the release of The Winds of Winter on his blog, all we can do is wait for that.
The history of the world as we know wouldn’t have been possible without the skill of writers. There have been many established figures in the course of human history who provided an insight into our past. The authors, through their own views, show the world how different interactions and norms were followed at the time of writing. Some provide a journalistic view, some are a biography while others are purely fictional. George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire was the basis of the biggest TV show of the decade, the Game of Thrones. Similarly, Apple TV’s Dickinson is a biography-based series which peeks into the life of the American poet Emily Dickinson.
Apart from Hailee Steinfeld’s spectacular acting, what makes the show even more exciting is the addition of Finn Jones in season 2. Finn Jones rose to the spotlight with his role Ser Loras Tyrell on Game of Thrones. The Knight of Flowers was a fan favourite even with his untimely exit in Season 6.
The biographical series casts Jones as a real life newspaper publisher and editor Samuel Bowles. Jones is present from the very first scene of the season. Strutting through his printing press as the rest of the world — and in particular, Amherst, where Emily Dickinson (Hailee Steinfeld) and company live — is obsessed with his daily paper, the Springfield Republican.

The Red Wedding year 2020 was a difficult year for everyone across the globe. The world is still battling the consequences of the aftermath, with the UK under complete lockdown. The COVID-19 pandemic was one of the worst scares of the Long Night we faced last year. Health workers all over the world are keeping their life on the line trying to keep people safe. These COVID-warriors are working day and night to prevent further spread of the virus. Game of Thrones stars like Kristofer Hivju beat the infection with the help of these warriors. Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen on the show, extended her support to health workers on Instagram.

In the video message, Clarke asserted, “I just want to say a massive thank you to the NHS (United Kingdom National Health Service), everyone who works at the NHS.. from our beloved nurses to the surgeons the doctors, the psychotherapists… Everyone who works there, thank you.”
“In these incredibly frightening times, you are keeping us alive…so thank you.” The actor also asserted about ‘Fair Pay’ and said, “I believe NHS workers should get what they deserve, for doing what they do for us.” Clarke also asked her fans to join in her in demanding fair pay to the NHS workers.

Game of Thrones had plenty of social messages hidden in plain sight. Though it may not be too obvious, it was a representation of our own society. According to recent research, the fantasy show is very similar to real-world human interactions. That’s the reason why the show was such a big hit, people could relate to the characters. The series was a big platform to showcase the Domestic Abuse women face behind closed doors. Mother of Dragons, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), has come forward in support of them.

Emilia posted a picture on her Instagram with a heart symbol drawn on her hand. She captioned, “This is something I care deeply about, and a problem that is everywhere, but behind closed doors.
For far too many home isn’t a safe place for those living with domestic abuse. I want to reach out and connect to anyone reading this who may feel scared in their own homes during this time.
At home should not mean at risk – we support you. #YouAreNotAlone.
If you or anyone you know is at risk of, or experiencing domestic abuse, you can leave your home to seek refuge. The police will respond to your calls and support services remain available.
Call 999 if you are in immediate danger. If you can’t speak and are calling from a mobile, listen to the operator and, when prompted, dial 55 to be connected to the police who will help.
If you suspect a neighbour or someone you know is currently experiencing domestic abuse please do call 999 and let them take the situation forward.”
It’s time to raise our voices against the issue. Tell us how we can curb the violence in the comments below!
