After a long, long wait, Game of Thrones Season 7 has finally premiered. The first episode, titled Dragonstone, came with a bunch of great scenes and mostly touched upon the storylines that we left off at the end of the last season. However, the episode had its peak moment at the beginning itself, and it had to do with Arya Stark. Arya kills off the Freys all at once, poisoning them with wine, while wearing Walder Frey‘s face, thus avenging the Red Wedding in the classic payback style. The episode set the bar so high with this scene, that the rest of the episode, despite being really good, feels underwhelming. Maisie Williams, who plays the role of Arya Stark, talked about this badass scene, with EW. Read on!
Talking about the scene that kicks off Season 7, Maisie said :
“When I heard first heard about the Faceless Men, I always thought it would be really cool if she switched faces with a leading character rather than an unknown person’s face. I really hope [viewers] don’t guess it’s her straight away.”
While Arya has always been brave, this act kicked up her ruthlessness to a whole new level. Maisie says Arya’s as surprised about it as we are :
“It’s so f—ed up! Even Arya is surprised she has so much power. In that last moment she’s staring out at all those men dying, she’s turned into a bit more of a monster than she’s ever realized. I don’t think she’s sad about that but she’s got it on her mind.”
Speaking of the end game, Maisie left us with an awesome possibility that she says she would like to see coming true. She said :
“I’ve always had this fantasy in the back of my head — I don’t think it’s a good ending and fans might not like it — but that somebody would sit on the Iron Throne at the end and then they whip their face off and it’s Arya instead. I’ve always had that dream.”
Truth be told, that would be an epic conclusion. What are your thoughts? Whom do you want to see Arya killing next? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
