With an agreement that would benefit all writers in the business, regardless of the network they work for, the Writers Guild of America strike, which had put a halt on everything in Hollywood, including highly anticipated series and movies, comes to an end. This is fantastic news for aspiring writers who are just getting started as well as for fans who have been waiting for the release of their favourite series and films.

House of the Dragon on a fast track to completion

As soon as the news of the WGA strike ending came to light, all the major studious began scurrying up to finish their on-hold projects. Though House of the Dragon kept filming because the script was completed earlier, it still needs rewrites and reshoots. According to a report by Variety, “HBO is eager to take fans back to Westeros for more backstabbing, incest and power plays with the second season of House of the Dragon, targeting a summer 2024 premiere, and looking ahead to a yet-to-be-ordered third season of the “Game of Thrones” prequel.”

House of the Dragon might arrive sooner than anticipated

The Game of Thrones prequel has already finished the majority of its filming, thanks to the scripts that were already completed before the strikes began. The production is close to completion at the Leavesden Studios, with only a couple of days remaining. With the WGA strikes now close to being over, and writers getting back at work, the reshoots and rewrites will take even less time, and House of the Dragon might arrive very early in 2024.
