A series like Game of Thrones would not have risen to such heights if everything was not of the highest quality. Costume design was one area where the show absolutely stood out. As a result, it should come as no surprise that its upcoming prequel House of the Dragon will include some of the finest TV costumes ever made. Rhaenyra’s first wedding featured some of the finest attires made for TV. Let’s have a look at how they were made.

The making of young Rhaenyra’s white wedding gown

In a new feature released by Max, we get to see the behind-the-scenes process of costume design on the set of House of the Dragon Season 1. With an emphasis on Rhaenyra’s bridal gown from the fifth episode as a proof of concept, costume designer Jany Temime, actor Milly Alcock (young Rhaenyra Targaryen), and others discuss how the designs came to be.

Milly Alcock was scared of ruining the royal attire

Jany Temime contributed to films like Gravity and Skyfall in addition to the Harry Potter series before joining the team at House of the Dragon. She used a lot of silk in the making of these dresses. She handled House of the Dragon with utmost care since she realized she had to reference the Game of Thrones aesthetic while yet giving it a unique flavor. There were only two of them manufactured, so one small spill could ruin an entire set, thus Milly Alcock was worried about staining the dress.
