HBO reportedly casting for Game of Thrones prequel “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”
The lengthy wait has come to an end. The Writers Guild of America strike, which had halted everything in Hollywood, including highly anticipated TV shows and films, has ended owing to an agreement that will benefit all writers in the industry, regardless of network affiliation. The upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight‘, has reportedly begun production, as indicated by a casting call recently leaked.
Casting call for HBO’s Dunk & Egg series?
Not long ago, a casting call was issued by Lucy Bevan Casting, which stated that they were “searching for two leading roles in an upcoming HBO series”. The full description of the roles is detailed in the pamphlet below:
Looking at the description, longtime Westeros enthusiasts will immediately point towards the story of Dunk & Egg, as the details are strikingly similar to the famous Knight and his royal squire. Fans have been waiting for a live-action adaptation of the story for a really long time.
What is ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ about?
For those who aren’t familiar with Westerosi lore outside of Game of Thrones, The Hedge Knight will narrate the story of: “A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones,’ two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.
Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
The first season will be an adaptation of the first of the three published novellas, “The Hedge Knight,” the tale of how Dunk & Egg first met during a tournament at Ashford Meadow. The pilot script was already written before the strikes began.
What is the release date for ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’?
According to the casting call by Lucy Bevan casting, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ will begin filming in 2024. Though there has been no news about a potential release date, we can expect the prequel show to arrive no sooner than 2025.
