Game of Thrones wins at the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards
Game of Thrones had a great run with Season 6, with the storyline developing like never before. The season was the best one yet, naturally, as every next season of Game of Thrones always seems to be better than the last one. Being well received by fans and critics alike, Season 6, has been doing really well at the awards season this year, having been nominated for most of the major awards, and winning quite a few of them. The latest win for the show comes from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards.
As we had previously reported, the show had been nominated for three Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards. The first category it was nominated for was Best Special Makeup Effects for a Television and New Media Series, and it lost in that category to it’s newborn HBO sibling, Westworld.
The show, however, won in the other two categories it was nominated in. The first category was Television and New Media Series: Best Period and/or Character Makeup. The full list of nominees was as below :
Game of Thrones – Makeup Artists: Jane Walker, Kay Bilk
Penny Dreadful – Makeup Artists: Enzo Mastrantonio, Clare Lambe
Saturday Night Live – Makeup Artists: Louie Zakarian, Amy Tagliamonti, Jason Milani
Stranger Things – Makeup Artists: Amy L. Forsythe, Samantha Smith
Westworld – Makeup Artists: Christien Tinsley, Myriam Arougheti, Rolf Keppler
The second category in which Game of Thrones won, was Television and New Media Series: Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling. The full list of nominees was as below :

Penny Dreadful – Hair Stylists: Luca Vannella, Alexis Continente

Stranger Things – Hair Stylists: Sarah Hindsgaul, Evelyn Roach
Well, looking at the categories, Game of Thrones was definitely a strong contender, but it had some pretty strong competition that it beat to win.
From what we know of Season 7 till now, it will be even better than Season 6, which means more awards! Season 7 premieres in the summer this year, and we couldn’t be more excited. What about you? Talk to us in the comments, below!

Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham who played the character of Davos Seaworth in the show has won the inaugural Human Rights Award. It was an important win for the actor and something which he is going to cherish for a long time. Read on.
As per Nova, Cunningham was recently bestowed upon by the award by Syrian refugee Husam Alhraki for his campaigning work on the rights of migrants and refugees. On receiving the award Cunningham felt honored and asked Europe to do more for the refugees. He said:
“It’s an honor for me to receive this award from the Irish Council for Civil Liberties, who have been working to make Ireland a freer and better country for almost half a century.
And it comes at a really important moment when Europe is literally allowing refugees to die on our borders. We need to stand up against this, to assert that Europe and Ireland we want to live in are places that offer refuge to people who need our help.”
In another interview recently, he was particularly vocal against the governments for not doing enough for this crisis. He said:
“It’s an ugly, filthy look on our government not to take care of business … we’re not doing as much as we should be doing and as much as we said we would. It’s terrible.”
Cunningham has emerged as a champion of human rights in Ireland and it is so good to see an actor stand up for a real cause.
