Game of Thrones season 7 premiere results in a drop in traffic for Pornhub
There is no doubt that Game of Thrones is the biggest thing on TV and in popular media right now, and with millions of people watching it, there is hardly anything stopping us from asking us the question : just how popular is Game of Thrones? We might have some sort of an answer after all, it’s apparently more popular than even porn! Porn giant Pornhub recently revealed that Game of Thrones might after all, be more popular than porn. Read on!
Pornhub and Cinemablend recently revealed data studied during the Season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones : how it affected Pornhub’s traffic. Pornhub apparently saw a 4.5% drop in traffic when Season 7 premiered. Previous data reveals that Game of Thrones usually manages to dent Pornhub’s traffic by around 4-5%, with Season 6 finale taking the cake with 5.2% Pornhub will monitor the situation to see how Season 7 performs, and we think it might break previous records. The premiere episode had over 16 million viewers, so it’s fair game to expect that.
Corey Price, vice president of Pornhub, told Fox News that it isn’t a specific case :
“As is often the case with many events – Super Bowl, NBA Finals, Comey/Sessions testimonies, Coachella, etc., people prefer watching said events in real time, and, quite honestly, who could blame them? Pornhub will always be around.”
The president of Exile Entertainment, an adult entertainment company, Howard Levine said that this isn’t really something to be afraid of, in the long run :
“I don’t think we are in any danger from ‘Game of Thrones’ or any other mainstream show substituting adult [entertainment] for mainstream programming. As soon as ‘Game of Thrones’ was finished, traffic levels returned back to normal, as they always do.”
They also shared data from Game of Thrones season 6 which showed that the season 6 premiere caused a 4.1% drop in traffic for them and when it came to the season 6 finale, they experienced a 5.2% drop in traffic! Take a look at the statistics below.
