The Game of Thrones season 7 premiere had many details that were hidden in plain sight and it’s possible that lot of people might have missed them. We have already written one article which reveals the details that you might have missed from the first episode and another one which does the same for the opening credits of the first episode. However, it seems that we missed one small thing from the opening credits, that can have a huge impact on Westeros and it involves the White Walkers!
Here’s a screengrab from the opening credits.
Everything looks normal and then we zoom in and see Castle Black and just when we are zooming out and moving to another location, we get to see this!
Look at the right side of the Wall. You will realize that the water seems to be frozen in the above photo. Yesterday, we had discussed about how the White Walkers might enter Westeros, taking into consideration one of the Hound’s dialogue that was deleted from the episode. Here’s the complete dialogue:
“It’s where the Wall meets the sea. The waves are frozen. There is a castle there. There’s a mountain. Looks like an arrowhead. The dead are marching past. Thousands of them.”
The description clearly matches that of Eastwatch-by-the-Sea and that’s where Jon Snow has sent Tormund and the Wildlings to keep a watch and in the above photo, that’s where the water seems to be frozen. Tomund needs to be very careful now, as he can be in grave danger. We wanted to be sure that the appearance of the frozen water near Eastwatch-by-the-Sea wasnt something that was shown in the opening credits previously and hence we checked the opening credits for each of the season premieres so far and this is what we saw.
It’s clear that the water can be seen in each of the above photos and only the latest opening credits are different. This makes things easier for the Night King as he doesn’t have to worry about the Wall, if he can bypass it completely. We had been speculating whether Bran Stark crossing the Wall might result in it’s destruction but now it appears that the Night King doesn’t even need the mark on Bran’s hand to go past the Wall. Bran Stark is at Castle Black, while the White Walkers are marching towards the Eastwatch-by-the-Sea. If this is true, Bran won’t be responsible for the destruction of the Wall.
