Game of Thrones’ Hafthor Bjornsson defeats rival Eddie Hall to win the Heaviest Boxing Match in history

Game of Thrones’ Hafthor Björnsson (The Mountain) and Eddie Hall have been long-time rivals now, ever since they faced each other in the World’s Strongest Man championship. After several delays due to the covid pandemic, the two finally faced off against each other in the ring, the fight being dubbed as the ‘Heaviest Boxing Match’ anyone has ever seen. And as expected, the Game of Thrones star emerged victorious in the brutal bout.
The strongmen-turned-boxers duked it out on 20th March at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium, and the fight went on for a full six rounds. Though Eddie proved to be a formidable opponent, Thor’s sheer size, power and technique proved too much of a challenge for the former World’s Strongest Man.
Thor said after the match, “I’d like to thank Eddie Hall and his team for putting up a hell of a show, he gave me a hell of a battle. I’ve never been dropped in training, so hats off to him. He really can punch. He wasn’t lying! But today, I feel technique won. Understandably he seemed a bit angry still. He lost the fight so it’s understandable as well. But I’m happy, if he wants the rematch I’ll take a rematch no problem. Would you guys like to see a rematch?”
Hall later said in an Instagram post, “You know what, I can take things as a man. It is what it is, that’s boxing. At the end of the day, I’ve just fought the biggest man on the planet in a boxing match. I’d like to see anyone else get the balls and do that. It’s been a hell of a journey; I’ve enjoyed it and hopefully, there’s a rematch and we can do business again. I want to wish everyone out there.. that you’re staying safe, sating positive and you keep moving forward in life.”
The level of sportsmanship displayed by the two former strongmen is quite remarkable. Would you love to see them clash again? Tell us in the comments below!
