Game of Thrones gets four nominations at Critics’ Choice Awards 2020
The nominations for the 25th annual Critics’ Choice Awards 2020 are out. The awards are going to be held on 12 January 2020. Game of Thrones fans and makers probably heaved a sigh of relief after getting nominated in four different categories by Critics’ Choice Awards.
The Critics Choice Awards nominated the HBO show for Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series – Kit Harington, Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series – Peter Dinklage and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series – Gwendoline Christie.
The show was recently snubbed by The Golden Globes Awards as they received only one mention in the list of nominations. Kit Harington aka Jon Snow was the only member of the cast who got nominated for Best Actor in a TV Series – Drama.
Over the years, Game of Thrones has been bestowed upon by many awards and many nominations. In fact, the show in its entire run got more than 750 nominations and more than 250 wins. Emmy Awards alone have been the witness to 59 wins out of the total 160 nominations for the show.
Earlier this year, Game of Thrones won 12 Emmy Awards and matched their own record of the most wins in a year. Peter Dinklage who has been nominated by Critics Choice Awards, has already created a record of winning the Emmy Award for four times in a row.
What makes these nominations even more special this year is the fact that show has now ended its run and these awards are only going to enhance its legacy. While the final season may have got some of the most extreme reactions ever for a television show, it has still managed to get few awards in its kitty.
For all those associated with the show, these nominations must have been very fulfilling as all of them have gone on record about their emotional journey with the show. HBO may have already green lighted a few prequels to the series but when it comes to acclaims it is not going to be easy to match the thrones.
