Game of Thrones actor Gary Wales turns his attention to domestic violence with short film
Game of Thrones had plenty of social messages hidden in plain sight. Though it may not be too obvious, it was a representation of our own society. According to recent research, the fantasy show is very similar to real-world human interactions. That’s the reason why the show was such a big hit, people could relate to the characters. The series was a big platform to showcase the Domestic Abuse women face behind closed doors. RAGE, a short film, will attempt to show what goes on behind closed doors and help real-life victims get the support they need. It is being made by actor Gary Wales, who featured in an episode of Game of Thrones, and filmmaker David Penman.
Rage features a ‘seemingly normal family man’ on a date night with his wife. Things turn nasty when he takes a mix of drugs and booze.
Gary, 25, said: “The whole purpose of this movie is to show people what drugs and alcohol can do, especially behind closed doors, and how it can affect families around the world.
“Every single day there are families going through this situation and no one really knows what happens behind closed doors. You could just be chilling one night and then hear an argument from your neighbours, but you don’t really know what has happened. Anything can happen. Then suddenly the emergency services show up and people wonder.”
“This is a short drama which is going to reflect on what happens behind that closed door,” Gary added. “It’s not really for entertainment purposes… it’s hard to put into words. We are also going to give people resources they can use to learn more about this and to help.”

Children love a scary story if told the right way. Ever since we were kids, we loved to share our own scary tales with our friends and laughed at their spooked out faces. Lena Headey is adapting a spooky animated adaptation of Christian McKay Heidicker’s Scary Stories for Young Foxes. The Game of Thrones star will co-produce it with Boat Rocker Studios, as reported by Deadline.
Lena will voice a character in the animated miniseries adaptation of the award-winning kids’ horror novel. Her production company Peephole Productions will produce with the company’s Kids & Family division.
Centred on two young foxes who are separated from their litters. Scary Stories for Young Foxes will see Mia and Uly attempting to survive a spooky world full of monsters as they make their way home. Their journey is told in eight separate parts. With a single theme running through all of them: the impact of scary stories.
“During our first meeting at Boat Rocker I was asked what I was interested in. We started talking about horror for kids. How there is a space for this, and not to shy away from putting stuff out there that’s dark and smart,” said Headey. “Kids aren’t daft — they know when we’re holding back the scary bits. I’m so happy to be part of a great team. To bring Christian’s book to life in a way that feels authentic.”
Lena has also joined the TV adaptation of Hugh Howey’s sci-fi novel Beacon 23. Are you excited about the spooky animation? Tell us in the comments below!
Politics and scandals go hand-in-hand. Be it real-life or fictional, there are so many examples one might get tired of counting. One of the main reasons why Game of Thrones was widely successful is that it took elements from real life. It showed how ugly the fight for power can turn out to be. The show’s star Lena Headey (Cersei) will once again deal with political drama in her upcoming series. Headey has joined the HBO series The White House Plumbers, which delves into the Watergate scandal, as reported by Variety.
Headey joined previously announced cast members Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, and Domhnall Gleeson. The five-episode series tells the story of how President Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Theroux), accidentally toppled the Presidency they were zealously trying to protect.
Headey will star as Dorothy Hunt, the wife of E. Howard Hunt, a mother of four and an active CIA asset. Dorothy tries to hold her family together while entangling herself in her husband’s catastrophic misadventures. Lena is repped by CAA, TMT Entertainment Group, and Kraditor & Haber. Harrelson and Theroux will executive produce in addition to starring. “Veep” writers and executive producers Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck created the series and will executive produce. “Veep” showrunner David Mandel will executive produce and direct all five episodes.
