Game of Thrones actor Elyes Gabel Accused of Assaulting Girlfriend

The discrimination against women is a curse that our society still bears even in the 21st century. Gender-based violence is a mockery of the social values we strive so hard to perfect. According to a recent study, about 97% of women have faced some kind of molestation in their lives. It is an alarming sign that shows how unsafe our world has become for half of humanity. Even though majority of Game of Thrones staff ardently fights for women’s safety, unfortunately, one alum has been accused of molestation charges. Actor Elyes Gabel has been accused of assaulting his girlfriend and was arrested in New York City last week. Gabel played the Dothraki warrior Rakharo on Game of Thrones.

Gabel’s girlfriend is keeping her identity private, but the details of her case are beginning to emerge. She told police that Gable used both of his hands to “apply pressure” to her throat, “forcefully squeezing it” and resulting in “redness and substantial pain.” She also said that Gabel spat in her face and insulted her with misogynistic slurs, adding: “I’m going to punch your f—ing face in.”

Gabel’s lawyers issued a statement to reporters denying all these allegations, but they will have to defend their story in court. He was released without bail and is due back in court on July 7.
