Euphoria is the second-most watched show on HBO, right after Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones was definitely the biggest TV show of the 21’st century. Very few shows come even close to the epic fantasy in terms of budget, cinematography, popularity, viewership, and the number of awards won. Game of Thrones still holds the record for the most number of Emmy Awards won to date. However, there is another HBO show that is slowly coming close to Game of Thrones, at least in terms of popularity, and that is the Zendaya-led drama Euphoria.
Euphoria is now HBO’s second-most-watched show since 2004, second only after Game of Thrones. According to HBO, Euphoria Season 2 episodes are now averaging 16.3 million viewers, which stands as the best average performance for any season of an HBO series over the past 18 years, other than Game of Thrones (of course), which recorded an average of 46 million viewers across its eighth and final season in 2019.
Here’s each season’s average for “Game of Thrones” entire run:
Season 1 – 9.3 million
Season 2 – 11.6 million
Season 3 – 14.4 million
Season 4 – 19.1 million
Season 5 – 20.2 million
Season 6 – 25.7 million
Season 7- 32.8 million, and
Season 8 – 46 million
Those numbers are a combination of viewership across linear, on-demand, the now-sunset HBO Go and HBO Now, and other OTT platforms.
