Emilia Clarke teases the end of Game of Thrones at Cannes
Game of Thrones is currently filming for the final season, and we have been bringing you all the news. As you might remember us reporting, most of the lead cast members are currently in Seville, Spain right now, where the Dragonpit scenes are being filmed at the ruins of Italica. However, one major absence from the area is none other than the Khaleesi herself. Emilia Clarke has been busy promoting Solo, her upcoming movie, and is currently in France. Speaking in an interview at the Cannes Film Festival, she teased the end of Game of Thrones. Read on!
Emilia sat down with Variety for quite a lengthy chat, and like all Game of Thrones cast member interviews we’ve beem seeing of late, she talked about the end of the show. You can watch the full video, below:
When the topic shifted to Game of Thrones, Emilia nervously admitted to trying to not give away any spoilers:
“I feel like my eyes can say something…I think mainly people don’t wanna know, overall.”
She confirmed that she’s in the middle of her filming so if you thought Daenerys was dead because Emilia hasn’t shown up at Seville, you can rest easy, for now. She spoke about how it is for her and the others, to be dealing with the end of the show:
“It really feels like preparing to leave home. Is how it feels. So that’s exciting, but it’s sad and scary all at the same time…It has been my entire life. It was been my entire 20s, and then some. It’s been my everything.”
She said she’s trying to make sure she remembers as much of this experience once it’s over:
“I’ve been writing a diary entry for every day of filming, so that when I’m an old lady I can look back and remember what I was really feeling. The majority of my diary entries are, ‘My feet hurt! I’m tired! It was raining!’ I’m gonna look back and be like, ‘I complained a bunch!’ None of is this kind of wistful thing I hoped it would be.”
Emilia also claimed that she doesn’t know how Game of Thrones will end:
“I mean, we all have ideas, don’t we? It will be what none of us think it will be, I’m pretty sure.”
Emilia also featured on The Hollywood Reporter’sAwards Chatter podcast, where she discussed her audition for the show, and her favorite scenes, and then teased the final season by saying that a scene in it might end up her most favourite of all. Emilia pushed the tease even further:
“[Season 8] is badass…It just keeps getting better.”
