Emilia Clarke talks about the loss of Viserion in this week's episode 'Beyond the Wall'
Game of Thrones season 7 episode 6, Beyond The Wall took away something very dear to our hearts. It took away Daenerys’ dragon Viserion.Amazing as the episode was, a dragon dying was something especially heartbreaking for most of us. After Dany stormed into the fight between Jon+gang and the Wights, the Night’s King shot a spear straight at Viserion and took away a piece of Dany’s heart. As devastating as the scene was to watch, we can only imagine what the mother of Dragons must have felt like watching her own son die before her eyes. Actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, talked about the loss of Viserion during an interview with EW.
“It’s a heartbreak,” Emilia said. “Not only losing it but having that being given to the other side.”
She spoke about how important it is now for Dany to take vengeance.“My dragon could not have died for nothing, so this is now so important,” she said. “For the first time, you’re starting to see her defenses broken.”
She also joked about how Viserion, who was named after her brother Viserys, was the one to be killed and resurrected by the Night’s King.
“Of course it’s the rotten egg, of course you’d turn,” she added.
Emilia later went on to talk about how Dany has changed this season.“The biggest question this season for Dany is what side of the coin she’s on,” she said. “The unequivocal nature in choosing to be this aggressive is something you haven’t seen before. She’s practiced patience and has this savior-like quality, but now it’s game on.”
