Game of Thrones has had a great lot of characters over the years, and they’ve shared the spotlight, and many have eventually passed. However, some have managed to soldier on, and one of them is Eddison Tollet, also known as Dolorous Edd.

He started off as a steward on the Wall, and now is the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. He has been around as long as we can remember, and he will be there in Season 8. In a recent interview with Metro, Ben Crompton, who plays the role of Edd, teased the season, and talked about his surprise at the survival of his character. Read on!

Teasing Season 8, Ben spoke about how it is going to end with a bang :

“We’re currently filming. I think the shoot goes on probably till next year.

Even though there’s only six episodes, there’s a lot to shoot because it’s the last one. We’re going out with a bang.”

Ben also spoke about how he was grateful to be among the survivors :

“I’m grateful and so is my mortgage. In a way I’m surprised just because, just for a character to have that longevity in a show where characters get killed off so regularly.

In a way it’s penance for him. He’s a character who, of all the characters, he’d be quite happy if he dropped off this mortal coil, and in a way it’s punishment for him to have to endure everyday life.”

When asked if fans will be satisfied with the end, Ben said there’ll always be fans who love it and those that hate it :

“I’d be surprised if people are disappointed because there’s a lot of effort and love gone into this, and I think it’s very satisfying. So hopefully everyone will agree.”
