Ben Crompton (Dolorous Edd) discusses the different atmosphere on Game of Thrones Season 8 sets
Game of Thrones Season 8 is the final one, and it will air in 2019, which is a long time away. Now, until then, we have been getting a healthy bunch of cast interviews that we can feed off of, so things aren’t that bad. In a recent interview, long-time Game of Thrones cast member, Ben Crompton, who plays the role of Dolorous Edd, talked about Game of Thrones Season 8 and the different atmosphere on the sets. Read on!
Speaking to Metro, Crompton said things on the Season 8 sets are different :
“There is a slightly different atmosphere on set. In previous seasons, whether you survived that series or not, you knew the show was continuing. Now whether you survive or not, it’s coming to an end. Ben Crompton only briefly appeared in season seven. It’s something I’m very proud of. To be honest, there’s so much work to be done, you can’t really have time to sit down and get nostalgic yet.”
Speaking of the final table read, Crompton said :
“There was some tears the other week during a well-deserved standing ovation to [showrunners] David Benioff and Dan Weiss, and that was quite special being there for that final read-through.”
He also spoke about the number one issue surrounding the production, spoilers :
“We’re quite protective as a cast. Apart from being contractually obliged not to say anything, we’ve got a real affection for the show.
We were filming the other week and there seemed to be something flying above. Everyone was suddenly going, “Is that a drone? Is that a drone?”
‘It turned out it was from the SFX department on the other side of the set trying something out. But there was just this moment there thinking, “Don’t let there be any spoilers or anything, just let it happen.”’

Well, we wish there would be no spoilers, too, but we all know that won’t happen. Ben Crompton returns as Dolorous Edd when Game of Thrones is back for one last time. What do you think will happen to Edd? Talk to us in the comments, down below!
