Lights, Camera, and… Action! Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon is close to wrapping up filming in the Spanish city of Caceres. The next destination is Portugal’s City of Stone, Monsanto, where the shoot is supposed to take place between October 26 to October 31. Several pictures from the set are already leaking out on social media platforms, as curious locals try to capture a sneak peek at the set.

This is the first time the Game of Thrones franchise will be filming in Portugal. According to Jornal do Fundão, the Spanish area of Cáceres, in the Extremadura region, 135 kilometres from Monsanto, will be the European base for the filming of the award-winning HBO series.

Last month, HBO was already looking for extras: men and women, between 18 and 70 years old, who reside at or close to Monsanto.

Several pieces of equipment had to be airdropped due to the treacherous terrain and absence of well-formed roads, as seen in the recent pictures.
