The Penguin surpasses House of the Dragon’s viewership numbers
HBO delivers another banger
The year 2024 has been quite fruitful for HBO, as the network has managed to deliver hits after hits in a row. Some of the shows have seen record breaking numbers, the latest one being The Batman spinoff The Penguin. The Penguin has managed to impress the viewers with its first episode itself, surpassing the numbers accumulated by House of the Dragon.
The Penguin’s premiere overtakes House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 1
House of the Dragon Season 2 was one of the most anticipated shows of 2024. It managed to rack up 2.8 million views in its first four days. However, despite having low expectations initially, The Penguin managed to overcome that with its first episode. The Batman spinoff managed to gather 3.2 million households in the same period between Sept. 16 to 22, as per a report by The Wrap.
Netflix dominates the weekly viewership chart
The Penguin might be ruling the ranking currently, but HBO’s rival Netflix continues to maintain a strong presence. According to the viewership chart, 6 out of top 10 most watched TV shows between 16 to 22 September are from Netflix, with Monsters: The Lyke and Erik Menendez story sitting at number 2, right after The Penguin, HBO’s only entry.
