At the end of the several time jumps that have been evident throughout the series, the House of the Dragon Season 1 finale left us on the verge of a full-fledged civil war with the adult characters. And her uncle-husband Daemon Targaryen is gearing up for revenge.

The original concept for House of the Dragon by George R. R. Martin
House of the Dragon was the first of several Game of Thrones spinoffs that HBO has been developing for a while. Martin had envisioned a different timeframe at first. In a recent interview, he stated:
“The other possibility we discussed — which was actually my favorite, but nobody liked it but me — had the series opening like 40 years earlier with the episode I would have called ‘The Heir and the Spare,’ in which Jaehaerys’s two sons, Aemon and Baelon, are alive. And we see the friendship, but also the rivalry, between the two sides of the great house.”
