Kit Harington catapulted to fame and has since gained widespread recognition thanks to his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. Harington has come a long way since then, starring in numerous iconic anthology programs as unique characters. However, much like his Thrones character Snow, there were a lot of things in his life that the actor was unaware of, including his name.

Kit Harington “didn’t know” his real name

Harington’s character Jon Snow is famous for not knowing a lot of things in Game of Thrones, and it seems like the actor is just as clueless. In an interview with Candis Magazine, he revealed, “I actually didn’t know my name until I was 11 years old. I found out at school.”

“You know how you have to fill out those exam form things to find out how clever you are? Well, there was the space for my name and I put down Kit Harington, because that’s what my parents had called me from day one, and the guy came up to me and said, ‘No, your name’s Christopher.'”

Jon Snow's uncertain future

What is Kit Harington’s real name?

The Game of Thrones star’s real name is Christopher Catesby Harington. He went on:

“I was like, ‘I think I know,’ and they all went, ‘No, no, no, it’s Christopher!’

“And that’s how I found out! I love the name now – it’s certainly served me well.”

It seems like Harington is not too different from his on-screen character! Hopefully, we’ll get to see him return to his fan-favorite role as the WGA strikes are over.
