Emma D’Arcy is excited to see Rhaenyra release her “Targaryen Fire” in Season 2 of House of the Dragon
Since making her debut as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, Emma D’Arcy has gained popularity with audiences, reviewers, and the awards circuit. The actor joined the series in the middle of the season under intense pressure to take over Millie Alcock‘s role as Rhaenyra, the successor to the Iron Throne. And they are ready to breathe fire over the Greens in Season 2.
Emma D’Arcy wants to see Rhaenyra release her “Targaryen Fire”
D’Arcy has become an icon among the Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fans, and they love their character. And they know Rhaenyra will be up for revenge in Season 2, as evident from their interview with Vogue, where they say, “In the first season, she did a lot of mediating the Targaryen fire. I’m excited for her to be released from the endless navigation of people, of personalities – I think the energy for that has run out somewhat.”

D’Arcy opened up about their gender awareness and gender issues, “I feel like I’ve been thinking about my relationship to gender at least since I was about five. My journey with my gender identity feels like one of piecing things back together.”

“We are in a scary period of contraction, especially where trans rights are concerned,” they reflect. “I feel so deeply sad about the vitriol levelled against trans people and gender non-conforming people. I’m also incredibly aware that if I feel like this as a white nonbinary person, I know how much more hostile the environment is for trans women and for trans people of colour.”
