Olivia Cooke says she’s already getting hate from House of The Dragon fans for Alicent’s deeds
There are times when an actor is so good at portraying a character, viewers often forget that they are different from their on-screen selves. Lena Headey, who played Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones, received a lot of hate from fans who hated her character from the show. Something similar is happening to Olivia Cooke as well, who portrays Queen Alicent Hightower in the prequel House of The Dragon.
Olivia Cooke recalls getting the ‘Cersei treatment’
Cooke recently appeared on TheWrap’s UnWrapped podcast, where she answered several questions and her experience dealing with the fans. She recalled one particular incident:
“Yeah, last night in the pub some woman came up to me and was like ‘You’re that girl on House of the Dragon your character is such a C word I hate you’ and I was like oh.. okay.”
How does Olivia Cooke deal with the hate?
Cooke further went on to talk about the strategies she uses to keep all the negativity off her mind, “I think I’m learning to have a bit more of a rhino skin so I don’t really take it personally. I don’t want to play characters that have to be liked universally. That’s sort of like the beauty of what we do.”
