Will Kit Harington say “I want it” to HBO’s Jon Snow spinoff?
The world of Westeros is slowly spreading its roots! The success of Game of Thrones tempted the execs at HBO to venture forth into the mystical realm of George R. R. Martin’s novels, as a result, we have House of The Dragon, the first prequel, to be released very soon. House of The Dragon will be here in August, and HBO recently released a second teaser trailer featuring the dragons for the first time. However, HBO has also been playing around with several ideas that are set in the world of Westeros, and the most recent one will possibly make Jon Snow fans very happy.
HBO is eyeing another Game of Thrones spinoff show focusing on the tale of Jon Snow. Furthermore, the spinoff will see the return of Kit Harington to his popular character. HBO and Harington’s representatives, however, haven’t issued an official statement yet. This might quite possibly be the sequel fans have been wishing for ever since Game of Thrones ended in 2019.
Frankly, we don’t have any other details about the spinoff, and even if the report says the spinoff will headline Kit Harington, will he really return to the franchise?
Yes, we know that the pay will be astounding, a lot of disgruntled fans who lost faith in the franchise might also return, and Harington gets to return to the role that rocketed his career high up into the sky. But does he really want it?
Looking at his past interviews, it seems very clear he was relieved when Game of Thrones ended. Moreover, in an interview with the Telegraph, Harington admitted he isn’t willing to play silent characters like Jon Snow in the future. This is what he said:
“We do not speak about how we feel because it shows weakness, because it is not masculine. Having portrayed a man who was silent, who was heroic, I feel going forward that is a role I don’t want to play anymore. It is not a masculine role that the world needs to see much more of.”
Moreover, filming the last few seasons of Game of Thrones were excruciatingly difficult for Harington, not only because of the adverse climate, but also his alcohol addiction and failing mental health issues. Will he really return to a franchise that will bring all those memories back?
Yes, Harington did play Dane Whitman in MCU’s Eternals and might also return to play the heroic character, someone a bit similar to Jon Snow. This gives a glimmer of hope to many Game of Thrones and Jon Snow fans who are waiting to know what happened after the show’s finale, and see their hero return to action.
Do you think Harington will return for the HBO spinoff? Will the Jon Snow spinoff ever see the light of the day? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
