Interview
John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) recalls his humble beginnings on Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones wasn’t just the biggest show of the century, it was a huge family and a way of life for so many people for nearly a decade. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, something that not only the fans but the cast and the crew find hard to move away from. Many of the cast and the crew members are still in touch with each other, and a lot of them still remember their first day on the set quite vividly. John Bradley, who played Jon Snow’s best friend Samwell Tarly, recently talked about his first-day experience on set.
Bradley talked to iampro in a recent interview and recalled he didn’t even know what a call sheet was. He was freshly out of drama school and had no idea about what he was supposed to do. “That’s another thing that drama schools could maybe help out with,” he said.

He also admired the showrunners for their leadership skills on set, “If there’s bad energy, I think that trickles down from the top. Because our producers, David Benioff and Dan Weiss and Bernie Caulfield…and all our top brass…they had all the pressure of this show on their shoulders, but they were so calm, and so friendly and so welcoming and had such great personalities, everybody on the crew felt relaxed as well…We were all very lucky with them that they set the tone and made sure everybody had a brilliant time.”
