Game Of Thrones wins the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series
Game Of Thrones has done it once again! The HBO show has continued its great run at the Emmys by winning the Emmy award for Outstanding Drama Series and proving that it’s the King of all series! This is the third time the show is winning the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.
Game Of Thrones last won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2015 and 2016. The show would’ve won it for the third time in a row but that wasn’t possible as Game Of Thrones wasn’t eligible for 2017 Emmys.
“Writing for these actors is the honour of a lifetime but we didn’t invent these characters, that is George R.R. Martin, the show could not be without the mad genius of George. Thank you for letting us take care of your people,” said David Benioff while accepting the award.
D.B. Weiss further added, “A show is only as good as the people who make it and we’re blessed and lucky to have the greatest cast, the greatest crew and the greatest team of producers led by Bernie Caulfield. It’s a honour to work with them from Spain, to Iceland, all the way to our home base of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Here’s to you, Belfast.”
The show had some really stiff competition with The Crown, Stranger Things, The Americans, This Is Us, Westworld and The Handmaid’s Tale fighting it out with Game Of Thrones for winning the award. Game Of Thrones was the most nominated show at this Emmys with 22 nominations and it managed to win two major awards: Outstanding Supporting Actor in Drama Series for Peter Dinklage and Outstanding Drama Series.

These wins take Game Of Thrones’ tally to 9 Emmy awards in 2018, taking into consideration the 7 Creative Arts Emmys that the show won last week. Let us know your thoughts about this major win for the show and do you think the show deserved to win more Emmys tonight?
