Game of Thrones is a giant show, and as such, it is no stranger to the big awards. Now, we have seen that the show has absolutely dominated the past few awards seasons, and if you consider the biggest of all the TV awards, the Emmy Awards, you can see that Game of Thrones has won 38 in total, for the first six seasons. Needless to say, the show is set to make its mark on the last two Emmys that remain, with Season 7 going for this year’s honors. Let’s take a look at all the submissions that HBO has put forth to the Emmys, for Game of Thrones. Read on!

Now, as you know, Game of Thrones Season 7 didn’t cut it for the 2017 edition of the Emmy Awards, but it is all set to rock the 70th Annual Emmy Awards, 2018, to be held om September 17. Let’s take a look at the considerations:

Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Period Or Fantasy Program (One Hour Or More) – “Dragonstone”

This is Game of Thrones’ hat-trick attempt for the category, and Dragonstone looks like a winner.

Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series – Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones has been nominated for this one every year it has been around, but has only won twice, for Season 5 and 6. New casting barely happened for Season 7, so this one might be a pass.

Outstanding Cinematography For A Single-Camera Series (One Hour) –
“Dragonstone”
“The Queen’s Justice”
“The Spoils of War”
“Beyond the Wall”

Nominated multiple times, but never won, this year might be the first time Game of Thrones takes this one home.

Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes –“Beyond the Wall”

Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series –
“The Queen’s Justice”
“The Spoils of War”
“Beyond the Wall”
“The Dragon and the Wolf”

David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik have won in this category before, and this year might be the year for Matt Shakman for “The Spoils of War” or Jeremy Podeswa for “The Dragon and the Wolf”.

Outstanding Hairstyling For A Single-Camera Series –“The Dragon and the Wolf”

The description for this category reads as below:

Took care of 55 wigs plus 10 back pieces used on main cast in addition to cuts and colours on cast’s own hair. Also produce stunt and picture doubles for most cast as well as keeping continuity over 6 months, working between 3 countries: Northern Ireland, Spain and Iceland. The crowd team works on over 7,000 background artists, all with very distinctive looks; styles requiring wigs and hair pieces.

Outstanding Makeup For A Single-Camera Series (Non-Prosthetic) –“The Dragon and the Wolf”

This category had a description, too:

Sculpting materials used freehand with art work and blood products to create open wounds and bruises. Contact lenses, old age stipple, tooth decay, broken veins and dirty down techniques used to create dead, decayed weathered and wounded effects. Collodion and scar making material for aged scars. Laidon hair, partial and full hair-lace beards and moustaches. Petroleum wax and snow effects used to recreate freezing conditions.

Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Limited Series, Movie Or Special – “The Dragon and the Wolf”

This came with a more detailed description:

Hero Wight: Full head and hands silicone appliances. Dentures, contact lenses, lace hair pieces, facial hair punching. Body pieces glued to leotard with green negative space for VFX removal. Night King and 5 White Walkers: Each consisting of 9 silicone appliances, dentures, contact lenses, lace hair pieces. Approx 35 Wights: Silicone facial appliances. The Hound: Silicone burn makeup. LittleFinger: Silicone throat slash appliance with blood tubing. 2 Giant Wights: Silicone head and hands makeup

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series – Kit Harington

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series – Emilia Clarke

As we know, this is the first time Game of Thrones has sent considerations for lead categories. Before this, everybody competed in the supporting categories. Maybe they were trying to avoid giving us spoilers about whom this story really was about.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series –
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Peter Dinklage

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series –
Lena Headey
Sophie Turner
Maisie Williams

We have seen Dinklage win for Season 1 and 5, but we think it might be time Nikolaj got his due.

Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series – Diana Rigg

This looks like a home-run finish. Read the description:

When Olenna lost her son and grandchildren to Cersei Lannister, she lost her family’s future. Now she lives only for revenge. She allies with Daenerys Targaryen to destroy Cersei, but underestimates Cersei’s cunning. Ambushed and dying, Olenna delivers one final blow: Cersei took Olenna’s son, but Olenna took hers first.

Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series –
“The Queen’s Justice”
“The Spoils of Wars”
“Beyond the Wall”
“The Dragon and the Wolf”

Game of Thrones has scored wins for Season 5 and 6 in this one, could repeat it again, especially with “The Spoils of War”.

Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) –“The Spoils of War”

Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) –“Beyond the Wall”

Outstanding Special Visual Effects –“Beyond the Wall”

Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Limited Series Or Movie –Game of Thrones

All possible wins, especially the Stunt Coordination. Finally, we have:

Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series – “The Dragon and the Wolf”

David and Dan have won this twice before, and this one could make the third.

Outstanding Drama SeriesGame of Thrones

Yet another chance to take it home for three seasons in a row, and we think it just might.
