Game of Thrones brings an estimated £150 Million to Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland is the principal location for the major filming of Game of Thrones, and a lot of real locations are made use of during filming: places that are attracting fans for a while now. Due to the huge fan following of the HBO fantasy drama, a lot of fans like visiting the locations where Game of Thrones is filmed, and this has increased the tourism business of Northern Ireland greatly.
According to what BBC reported, NI screen, which funds the Game of Thrones filming, helps the show gain a lot of tax benefits, but claim that the returns are quite high as well. It appears that the economy has been fueled to around £150 Million since the show began six years ago. The tourism industry has seen a substantial increase as fans are attracted to the landmarks featured in the show.
